Another forward could be on their way to the Hawthorns as the Baggies are speculated to rival Wigan for the signature of Daniel Arismendi.

Today, the Daily Mail Website has speculated that Tony Mowbray might be bolstering his already heavily-staffed frontline with a bid for the Venezuelan striker.

Arismendi has little in the way of pedigree; the 25-year-old striker having plied his trade in the Venezuelan top flight, the Primera DivisiĆ³n Venezolana, and this season for the Mexican side Atlante, for whom he managed one goal in ten games. He has a healthy return for his national side however, scoring at just under a goal every two games for a total of 9 goals in 20 matches for the South American minnows. He recently came on as a second half substitute in their 3-2 World cup qualifying defeat to Chile.

This move could well be a squad booster, as in the past we have seen Mowbray bring in the likes of Slusarski and Macdonald who have had very limited playing time. The scouting networks at the club, greatly developed by the now departed Simon Hunt, have yielded some great gems from unheralded leagues, Tiexiera and Koren being obvious examples, and this could be another instance of this. The Baggies recent defensive addition of the young Gianni Zuiverloon is another hugely exiting prospect.

In a possibly even more unlikely piece of transfer speculation, The Baggies have also been linked with a loan move for Man Utd crock Louis Saha. Although it is generally speculated that Saha will leave Old Trafford, I think it highly unlikely that he would come to the Hawthorns, or even if the board and management would pursue him – though he is a classy and proven Premiership performer.
