Gareth McAuley is targeting a clean sheet against Arsenal this weekend.

Speaking to wba.co.uk McAuley said he was relishing the challenge that he’d face on Saturday, and said a clean sheet – especially given the form Arsenal have played themselves into – would be something for Albion to treasure as we look to improve our own start to the season.

‘It’s a big challenge, he’s in form as we saw at the weekend against Chelsea. If we can get a shut out it’s a good one to have.’

Since joining from Ipswich, McAuley adds he is loving life in the Premiership but he knows the Baggies have to step up further and start picking up the results to match our performances.

‘Every week is a new challenge and a different challenge. We have to get back to what we were doing in the previous weeks with the work ethic and good play. We need to respond now and thrive on Saturday’s challenge.’
