Gera Gets Arsenal Boost

Zoltan Gera has been withdrawn from the reserve squad that will face Chelsea tonight, so he can focus on training with the first team ahead of Arsenal at the weekend.

Speaking to wba.co.uk Michael Appleton explained that the decision had been taken because it was believed he would benefit more from training with the first team, than he would by turning out for the second string tonight.

‘He’s been pulled out with a view to Saturday. He’s had three weeks of training now and what you have to weigh up is what’s best – 45 minutes in a reserve team or an hour-and-a-half training session working hard in preparation for a game. We just thought another session in and around the players is better.’

Gera will probably be delighted with the decision, as clearly he’s in the gaffer’s mind for the weekend.
