Journalist reveals the business Slaven Bilic wants done at West Brom before season starts

|

West Brom manager Slaven Bilic wants to sign four players before the Premier League season starts next month, Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol has revealed.

The Baggies will mark their return to English football’s top-flight after two seasons away when they host Leicester City at The Hawthorns on the weekend of the 12th September, which is just under three weeks.

It is been a quiet window so far for Bilic and co. with the permanent signing of last season’s loan star Matheus Pereira the only senior incoming confirmed so far.

However, it seems as though Bilic is hopeful that that will all change between now and that much-anticipated kick-off against the Foxes.

Speaking about West Brom’s transfer plans in a video on Sky Sports, Solhekol identified a swap deal with Sheffield United involving another loan Baggies from last season, Callum Robinson and Oliver Burke, and a move for Brighton defender Shane Duffy as two deals the Baggies are hoping to complete, among others.

Discussing that potential business, Solhekol revealed: “You’ve heard about the Robinson-Burke swap deal and Slaven Bilic wants Brighton defender Shane Duffy too.

“Ideally, he wants four new players before the season starts.”

Along with the moves for Duffy and Robinson, both of which would surely be welcomed by those associated with the Baggies given their ability and experience, it has recently been reported that the club are in talks about the signing of another Brighton player, in the shape of goalkeeper David Button.

While the transfer window is open until well into October, meaning there is no rush to get those deals done before the Leicester game, you can understand why Bilic is keen to get those deals sorted before that point.

Not only does it mean he will have more options to call upon for that clash with the Foxes, but it also gives them more time to adapt and settle in at the club before the season gets going, which, given the importance of starting the campaign well, could be absolutely vital going forward.
