Journalist confirms Championship club’s interest in West Brom man

|

Sheffield Wednesday are interested in signing West Brom striker Kenneth Zohore, journalist Alan Nixon has confirmed.

Zohore only joined the Baggies from Cardiff for a reported £8million last summer, but struggled to make an impact during his debut season at The Hawthorns, scoring just five goals in 20 appearances in all competitions.

Now it seems as though Zohore could be on the move again this summer, with TeamTalk having previously reported that Middlesbrough are keen on a loan deal for the 26-year-old.

However, it now appears as though Zohore could be given the opportunity to leave the Baggies permanently this summer, after Nixon revealed that ‘Boro’s Championship rivals Sheffield Wednesday are interested in buying the forward.

Having signed a three-year contract with West Brom last summer, the Baggies are in a strong position to negotiate whatever offers might come in for him, which could give them a chance of getting back a decent chunk of what they paid for him.

Indeed, with that in mind, it does seem as though a permanent move to Wednesday for Zohore could be better for West Brom than a loan move to Middlesbrough that would fail to bring the sort of funds that could help the Baggies to further recruit this summer ahead of their return to the Premier League.

You also feel that that could appeal more to Zohore given the long-term certainty it could offer him, although there is the chance he might want to remain at The Hawthorns in an attempt to earn another chance of proving himself at Premier League level.
