Billy Jones has said he is looking forward to renewing his right back battle with Steven Reid when pre season training begins.

The 25 year old enjoyed a successful first season at the Albion really, but he told wba.co.uk that he knows he has to push on further, and if possible, make the right back position his own now.

‘Anybody who is looking to establish themselves in this division is looking to get a full season in the team. It’s going to be a difficult decision for the head coach to make in terms of who will play right back as Reidy and I probably played an equal amount of games, and I think we both did well. All over the pitch, I’m sure there will be intense competition for places as soon as pre season begins.’

Jones started 17 times last campaign, only four less than Reid, but of course Jones also showed his versatility by filling in at left back on occasions, but there’s no doubt his best position is on the right and with Reid entering his senior years, Billy will no doubt wanting to make a real claim on the spot for the long term future.
