Roy Hodgson has admitted that Steven Reid is a major doubt for this weekends clash against the Villa.

Speaking to wba.co.uk Hodgson admitted that Reid’s injury wasn’t as bad as it could’ve been but the Villa game could come too soon for him, however he less concerns over Scott Carson and Jerome Thomas.

‘Steven has a calf strain, so his participation on Saturday will be in doubt…but it’s too early to make any real predictions.’

Roy adds that Reid’s scan showed that he’s suffered a slight muscle tear, but even if this weekend comes too soon, he won’t be out for any length of time and should continue to play an important part in our end of season run in.

Scott Carson on the other hand has had his thigh problem for quite a while, but he’s managing it well and it shouldn’t lead to him missing any action.

‘Scott’s had a thigh problem for some time, but the scan on that was also very positive. He’ll be okay.’

Jerome Thomas missed training yesterday but Hodgson expects him to be fit come Thursday or Friday.

The only other news is Graham Dorrans, who is still beavering away with the physios.
