Silly Money To Sell Odemwingie

Roy Hodgson has again reiterated his belief that Peter Odemwingie will be a Baggies player next season, by insisting it will take silly money for the club to part with him.

Speaking to the Express & Star the gaffer said it wouldn’t take £50 million for Albion to part company, but he doesn’t believe many clubs will have the money that we have in mind for us to be tempted with a deal.

‘I’m not sure there’s an awful lot of money around, certainly we wouldn’t be looking to get rid of him, so it would have to be the type of offer you can’t refuse and we know what top players cost.’

Odemwingie himself doesn’t sound like the type of player looking for a move in his recent press interviews, as he said when answering the question about Juventus’ reported interest.

‘My intention is to continue playing in England, if West Brom is not relegated I’m only too happy to stay – it’s likely in the summer the management will offer me a new contract on better terms.’

Odemwingie doesn’t appear to be the type of player that would move on so quickly given what he’s achieved at the club since joining, so an improved contract certainly seems the sensible way forward in the summer.

Whilst Hodgson will no doubt use the summer to improve our quality overall, you can’t imagine that he’d want to make one of his first jobs finding another striker who is capable of getting us 15 odd goals in the league can you.
