“He Is Giving Me An Opportunity” – West Brom Youngster Addresses Summer Confusion

|

Most West Bromwich Albion fans felt that Academy graduate Rekeem Harper was off this summer and would be another in the long list of talented youngsters that have slipped through our grasp without us even really financially benefiting from the deal – which is always a secondary aim of any Academy setup.

Is There Fresh Hope Of A New Deal For West Brom Talent

Things changed for the 19-year-old though on the arrival of new head coach Slaven Bilic and when he penned his new three year deal to end all Celtic speculation, plenty were pleased with the 19-year-old’s decision.

With pre-season training now in full flow, he has sat down with wba.co.uk recently and clearly he’s relishing the coming Championship campaign we have ahead, and Bilic obviously had a massive impact on his line of thinking.

“He said to me the main thing to me was how I can improve as a player and he is a manager who cares about the players. He is giving me an opportunity to get games and improve myself at this level. He explained to me how he can integrate me and help me push on this team.”

He added.

“There were times last season that were difficult for me when I didn’t play well but then I scored my first goal. It’s all part of the process of learning. Now I’m so excited for this season. Now I want more games, more goals, more assists and I want to become a mainstay in the team and get myself to the next level. And I want the team to get where we need to get to.”

Given the performances he put in last year that caused many to believe his game time could’ve easily been more, now his head’s back on straight, hopefully he can really kick on and justify that in 2019/20.
