Hero of the night Ben Foster has said he was delighted to help play his part in getting Albion back on winning ways against Liverpool.

Speaking to Sky Sports once he’d finished celebrating, our keeper said.

‘We needed that. We have been on a poor run but the performances have been decent. We knew we had a chance if we kept our performances up.’

Not only does the win take us above Liverpool and provide a timely boost to our table tally but apparently it’s also the first time we have done the double over Liverpool since the 1966/67 campaign.

Turn this into an unbeaten streak again and people will start dreaming.

Steven Reid also had words of praise for our penalty saving keeper tonight.

He told Talksport.

‘He kept us in it. He’s brilliant. He’s one we sent big on, and we don’t do that too often, but with performances like that you can see why. The penalty save was top draw!’
