Steve Clarke has admitted he was disappointed with how today went, describing Odemwingie’s red card as ‘unhelpful’. One way of putting it!

Speaking to wba.co.uk after the 3-0 loss, Clarke said.

‘Peter’s sending off certainly didn’t help the afternoon, but to be honest I was disappointed with the way we started the game. We allowed Fulham too much control and they passed the ball better than we did. We started slowly and we suffered for that. We lost the goal and losing Peter compounded the problems, but we’re all human.’

Speaking on the sending off specifically, Clarke added.

‘The red missed obviously came down and he’ll take his punishment. It’s a three game ban, I’m sure the club have got a disciplinary process that he’ll go through and we’ll move in. In football it happens, people get sent off.’

Clarke did continue to say he was happier with the second half performance and the way the team tried to get back into the game, but it just wasn’t to be.

After such a decent start to the season, maybe this will be a blessing in disguise long term, as if any players were getting carried away this will certainly bring them back down to earth with a bump.
