Chris Brunt has spent his summer holidays taking the first steps into a career once he hangs his boots up.

Speaking to the E&S Brunt admitted he had been taking his first steps into coaching during the off season, as he would love to remain within the game when his playing days are over.

During the break the 26 year old Northern Ireland international was making his baby steps towards UEFA’s A Coaching Licence, to give himself greater options when the day to retire finally comes, but he also believes learning the trade from the other side will aide him on the training pitch.

‘I’m not exactly sure what I want to do after playing, but it would be good to still be involved. I think the coaching badges has helped me see what managers expect, if it helps me organise myself as a player and captain, maybe I can then pass that on to the other lads and that can only help the team.’
