Chris Brunt has been ruled out of our final match of the season against Arsenal.

It’s not an injury issue per se, the midfielder has undergone surgery to have his tonsils removed after battling with tonsillitis over the past few weeks, but he should be fit to take part in the Olympics if selected.

Speaking to wba.co.uk Keith Downing explained.

‘Chris Brunt has had his tonsils out so he will be missing for the weekend. He has been stop-start with them, and we know he might be considered for the GB team, so the decision was taken to do it now.’

In other pre Arsenal injury news, Downing explained that he was hopeful that Peter Odemwingie would be available for selection following his hamstring problem, but Jerome Thomas remains a doubt.
