Barnsley chairman Gordon Shepherd insists that there is still a chance that Luke Steele’s loan deal can be sorted out in time for the FA Cup Semi-Final.

As controversially reported by Vital West Brom Tuesday, Steele, the hero of Barnsley’s FA Cup run has returned to West Brom as his loan deal had expired. The two clubs are still locked in talks as they try to edge closer to some form of useful conclusion.

Sheppard told bbc.co.uk:

“We have not given up on signing Luke.”

“We want to take Luke on loan and West Brom want us to make the deal permanent.

“’I don’t know if anyone from Barnsley has spoken to Luke since he returned to West Brom on Monday but he knows we want to keep him.

“The two managers are still talking, the deal is not dead by any means.”
