Former assistant coach Michael Appleton has said Roy Hodgson has all the attributes required to be a successful England boss.

Speaking to Sky Sports the current Pompey boss said of his former gaffer.

‘I think he will make a very good England manager. He’s had the experience from working as a national coach before and he certainly knows all the players. I think he will be ideal. He’s very organised.’

Speaking more specifically about his qualities as a coach, as opposed to his experience of the world wide game, Appy added.

‘From a training point of view he is a very, very good coach, more importantly he likes to be out on the field. From a motivational point of view he’s got that mixture. He knows when to be serious and when to have a little bit of humour. His timing was very good and I think that only comes from experience.’

Still – don’t do it Roy.

He has been talking with the FA for about 3 odd hours today apparently and talks are on going. Some speculate there will be an announcement later tonight, I just hope it’s the right one.
