Albion look to bag an Oscar

With a month until the window opens, here is some West Brom transfer speculation.

Oscar Trejo

Since long before the previous transfer window closed, West Brom were linked (probably mostly by the players agent) to Oscar Trejo, former teammate of Valero at Mallorca. The young Argentine would command a similar fee of around £4m, but his scoring record (3 in 31) does not inspire confidence and although a striker he does not look like a viable solution the the Baggies current troubles.

Trejo himself has been quoted in the press as keen to make a transfer to us, no doubt bouyed by the wages on offer (Valero doubled his weekly pay packet when he made the move during the summer).

Mindaugas Kalonas

Easy to pronounce diminutive Lithuanian midfielder is currently on trial at the Hawthorns. Currently unattached after helping Bohemians to win the Irish league, a 5ft 4in midfielder is hardly the sort of player we currently need although he did manage a goal in half of his matches for the Irish champions.

Brian Stock

Welsh midfielder Stock plays for Doncaster Rovers in the championship. Several press sources have quoted a £1m offer in the offing for the 26 year old, though it is hard to see what he would bring to the Baggies.

He does boast an impressive scoring record of 10 in 80 league games, but hardly represents the sort of Premiership quality we need.

Hawar Mulla Mohammed

Iraqi international midfielder who has also impressed recently in the Champions League with brilliantly named Cypriot club Anorthosis Famagusta. The 27 year old has 15 goals in 67 caps, and can play both on the wing and in a more defensive role. Unsure what to make of this one, and the link is tenuous at best.

Marlon Harewood

Another dubious link, seemingly touted by several sections of the support as he rarely gets a game for the Villa. Not exactly prolific at any club he’s played, though has netted 14 league goals in a Premiership season – considerably more than any of our current lot have got.

What do you think? There’s not a lot to shout about but Mowbray usually has a few tricks up his sleeve. Another rumour doing the rounds is that the Manager himself will be off, with Allardyce primed to come in before Jan. I can only hope this turns out to be gibberish.
