Head coach Alan Irvine has not selected Stephane Sessegnon or George Thorne for the party travelling today to Sacramento.

A 23 man squad left the Midlands today for our 11 day training camp and mini tour of California, where we will face USL Pro side Sacramento Republic twice.

Ben Foster has joined up following his extended break following World Cup duty, but Sessegnon misses out owing to international duty as Benin play an AFCON qualifier against Malawi on Sunday.

Thorne, the man of two transfer requests, has also been left behind because negotiations continue with Derby County.

‘The club are in talks with Derby about George and while those negotiations continue it makes sense for him to remain at home. However, if no agreement is reached, George will be flown out to join the rest of the group in the US.’

Having spent the last couple of days talking again about how he doesn’t want to lose Thorne or Craig Dawson, this decision tends to rubber stamp the idea that Derby have now come at least close to a fee that would tempt us given his previous behaviour.

He was obviously selected for the friendly against Shrewsbury and he came on as a half time sub, but staying at home doesn’t imply a deal is now close.

Our games against Sacramento take place at Bonney Field on Monday July 21 and Friday July 25 with both kicking off at 7.30pm West Coast, USA time.

The full squad.

Foster, Myhill, L Daniels, Pocognoli, Baird, McAuley, Dawson, O`Neil, Olsson, Garmston, Atkinson, Lescott, D Daniels, Mulumbu, Yacob, Brunt, Gardner, Dorrans, Morrison, Anichebe, Berahino, A Nabi, Roofe.
