After a crucial if somewhat underwhelming win against Derby, reports in the Express & Star are that Albion could be looking to recruit a right-back on loan as boss Roberto Di Matteo seems to have reached the end of his tether with Gianni Zuiverloon.

After VitalWBA had banged on about the glut of mid-fielders we seem to be picking up and the dearth of quality defenders in the squad, Zuiverloon was dropped for the game against Derby after his hopeless display against Reading on Wednesday.

Di Matteo is hoping to sign a new full-back on loan this week as Eddie Newton confirmed: ‘We’ve got a week now, so we can work on it and maybe look to bring someone in.’

Gabriel Tamas was asked to fill in at right-back and just about coped with the task. More good news for him as he was called up to the Romanian squad for the first time with new boss Rozvan Lucescu.
