West Brom look likely to use the same squad for Saturday’s FA Cup clash with Newcastle as they did for the Monday night game, with Ishmael Miller starting on the bench.

Roman Bednar has apologised for pulling a face after being substituted in that game so we can expect to see him leading the front line again.

Abdoulaye Meite is still on duty at the African Nations Cup with Ivory Coast and James Morrison remains out with a heel injury.

Whether boss Roberto Di Matteo sees this game as being important enough to name a full strength side remains to be seen, but there is certainly a matter of pride at stake; I’m sure that the Albion faithful would appreciate 100% effort and a win against the Championship leaders.

Di Matteo said:’Newcastle… they have the edge over everybody else with the strong squad they have and the players they have in their team. You look at their players and it’s Premier League all over, isn’t it?’ Quite.

Newcastle striker Peter Lovenkrands and scorer in the 2-2 draw on Monday is unavailable, as he is on compassionate leave following death of his father.

Newcastle boss Chris Hughton paid tribute to the 29-year-old Lovenkrands, who returned from Denmark to play in the league game, and will fly back out again for the funeral.
