According to reports over the weekend the Baggies have been linked with Crewe striker Nicky Maynard. However, they are said to face competition from Middlesbrough.
Maynard is 21 years of age, very quick, scores goals and has been brought up to play football at Crewe. It is easy to see why he would be on West Brom Manager Tony Mowbray`s wanted list.
Although Maynard was injured for most of last season, having broken his leg in the first game of the season against Brighton, he still managed to score 15 goals, scoring a hat-trick against Cheltenham to help Crewe steer clear of relegation.
It remains to be seen whether Maynard will make the short trip to the Black Country but he is certainly a striker that has a big future ahead of him.
