West Brom`s Ronnie Wallwaork, currently on loan with Barnsley has been stabbed several times in a incident at a Manchester bar.

The 29 year old who went to Barnsley last week was taken to hospital on Thurday night with knife wounds to his stomach, back and hands. He is in a stable condition and the wounds are not life threatening.

He has made two appearances for Barnsley. but was suspended for the weekend trip to Leeds United.

A statement on the Tykes` official website read: ‘Barnsley Football Club can confirm that Ronnie Wallwork has been involved in an incident in Manchester last night (Thursday).”

‘The club are deeply concerned about Ronnie and, although we do not know the full facts or circumstances surrounding the incident, we wish him a full and speedy recovery.

‘Ronnie has been a model professional during his time at Barnsley Football Club and we will be liaising with West Bromwich Albion as to the best course of action.’
