Training Ground Bust Up

Well it was to be expected to some degree following a few interviews, but the press are reporting their was a bust up between Steven Reid and Peter Odemwingie.

The best guess was it was just a bit of verbal handbags, and most likely you would hope, a clearing of the air moment in the squad. These things happen in football and most don’t make the press, but after the January we had, it was bound to be reported on.

Steve Clarke didn’t seem too upset with events, explaining that he hoped it was an ‘honest row’ but he was more concerned that somebody at the training ground decided to leak it to the press.

On Odemwingie Clarke had already said to the press that it was time to move on now and focus on the football, and he restated that when discussing this issue.

‘If he plays well and scores they might not forgive him, but they might accept him. His performances are key. I have a lot of experienced professionals in there, some of them might not like it but they will accept it because professionally they have to. I’m hoping most, if not all, are happy the matter has been resolved and we can move on as a group. You don’t have to love somebody to do well professionally, not everybody likes everybody in football. If there has been a row between Steven and Peter then I am sure it was an honest row. My biggest grievance is somebody in this building letting stories out to the press, that is more upsetting for me.’

It happens in football, move on, it’s about the club, not individuals.
