This West Brom Man Steals The Show Against QPR

|

Few fans would’ve expected the treat West Bromwich Albion had in store for them this weekend as we hosted Queens Park Rangers at The Hawthorns.

A steady and somewhat predictable first half played itself out and we went into the break with the scores tied at 1-1. The second half was slightly different as West Brom went on to find the net six more times in the game to take a 7-1 victory.

Plenty of players polled well given the level of the win but Whoscored had Matt Phillips as the stand out player.

Two goals from two shots, a key pass and a pass accuracy of 84.6 gave him an overall rating of 9.33 from the game.

Special mentions for Dwight Gayle (goal – 8.77), Kieran Gibbs (goal/assist – 8.50) and Jay Rodriguez (2 goals – 8.02). On-loan Leicester City player Harvey Barnes came fifth in the rating as he continued his impressive start to life with us as well, so whilst Phillips gets the nod here, there are plenty of reasons for delight as people return to work today.

We may not get quite a repeat like that, but after a tricky start to the season we’ve just shown exactly what we are capable of so here’s to it clicking on a more regular basis.
