Striker Rumours Hot Up Following West Ham Appointment

|

With the appointment of new West Ham United manager Manuel Pellegrini this week, the rumour mill has quickly sprung into action when it comes to our Venezuelan striker Salomon Rondon.

With fans more than letting their thoughts be known on a potential departure for the man this summer as we look to bounce back from Championship relegation disappointment last season, the easy hook for the reports as covered by the E&S are in the fact that Rondon played under the former Manchester City manager during their time at Malaga.

Back then, Rondon scored 27 goals in 72 appearances and with only 12 months left on his deal, and a reported release fee in the region of £16.5million, the expectation is Pellegrini would’ve been handed a significant budget when moving to the London Stadium.

Short of that tenuous link, there doesn’t appear to be any firm details behind the rumours but whether the next few days give light to that, we’ll have to wait and see.

The E&S report also references Nacer Chadli’s £17million release fee and Jonny Evans’ £3million escape clause.

Balls.ie have James McClean moaning about a difficult season for him on a personal front given the lack of game time and the fact we made him honour his contract.

I think it’s fair to say any presumed exodus following relegation has now been sparked into life. When it comes to Rondon in particular though given the expectation of how he can rip up the Championship, fans will definitely be hoping that comes to nothing as he could be massive for us next season.
