Albion captain Jonathan Greening is hoping boss Tony Mowbray gets the go-ahead to strengthen the first-team squad during the January transfer window.

He told the Birmingham Evening Mail: ‘If the right players are available then I`m sure the gaffer will be interested.`

The spate of recent injuries that robbed Albion of leading scorers Kevin Phillips and Ishmael Miller, midfielder James Morrison and centre back Martin Albrechtsen has shown just how quickly the momentum of a season can be lost.

Suspensions to Bostjan Cesar and Paul Robinson have added to the selection problems for Saturday`s visit to Leicester City, with the Baggies forced into fielding a makeshift defence.
