Report: West Brom plotting swoop for 45-cap international

|

West Brom are interested in Besiktas attacking midfielder Adem Ljajić in the summer, if they win promotion to the Premier League.

The Serbian international, who has won 45 caps for his country, has been in Turkey for the past two years and he enjoyed a particularly impressive first season, scoring nine goals in the Super Lig. However, the current campaign has been tougher for Ljajić and the team, as he has managed just three goals and the Black Eagles are sitting outside the European positions in the top-flight.

Yet, that doesn’t appear to have put Albion off, as Turkish media outlet Fotomac have claimed that boss Slaven Bilic wants to sign the playmaker, along with his teammate Domagoj Vida. The Baggies interest in the latter has been known for some time now, but the report states that Bilic is urging the recruitment team at The Hawthorns to secure a double deal if it’s possible.

Will West Brom be in the Premier League next season?

Yes

No

Bringing in attacking reinforcements could be a priority for the Croatian as it seems likely that Albion are going to have to cope without the creative Grady Diangana after his productive season means he is expected to play a prominent role at West Ham next year.

Realistically, any move for Ljajić, or Vida, is going to depend on West Brom winning promotion to the top-flight, although that does look likely as Bilic’s men are six points clear of third-placed Fulham with nine games to play. Plus, if the season has to be decided on sporting merit, they will go up along with Leeds United.
