Report: WBA chief admits he wants to ‘strengthen’ squad with players who can play ‘up the pitch’

|

Slaven Bilic has admitted that he is hoping to strengthen the West Brom squad this month, and that attacking players are the priority for him with over a week of the January window left.

Speaking to The Telegraph ahead of his return to West Ham this weekend three years after leaving the club as manager, the Baggies boss revealed what is hoping the club can achieve in the market this month with time running out for the Championship side to conduct any business, with an attacker seemingly the priority for Bilic.

West Brom have been linked with a plethora of attackers over the past few weeks with Bilic keen on adding more firepower to his squad to keep the Albion in line to finish this season in an automatic promotion spot, with the likes of Mislav Orsic and Karlan Grant all being linked with moves to the Baggies this month.

Do West Brom need to spend in January?

Yes, the squad needs that extra something

No, we're sorted for now

Bilic said about his transfer plans for the last few weeks of January: “We have a good team. I am happy with the squad but we were talking also, five weeks ago, about a couple of players which would help us; to give us a little injection of quality. A couple of quality players especially in the positions where we have a lack of numbers, up the pitch. I know where I want to strengthen and hopefully, we can do that.”

With the Albion boss facing off against his former side for the first time since being sacked in 2017, Bilic will be hoping for a positive result against West Ham with fortunes in the Championship taking a turn for the worst in recent weeks, with the Baggies yet to win a league game in 2020.
