Report: Pundit makes big claim about West Brom’s hopes of signing £20million valued player

|

Former West Brom striker Kevin Phillips says that he believes Grady Diangana would be willing to return to The Hawthorns next season, if the club win promotion to the Premier League.

Diangana joined West Brom on a season-long loan from West Ham back in the summer transfer window, and has since gone onto make 30 appearances in all competitions for Slaven Bilic’s side, scoring seven goals and providing five assists in that time.

Not surprisingly therefore, it has recently been reported that Diangana is attracting plenty of attention from elsewhere, with Celtic and Ajax said to be interested in the winger, who West Ham reportedly value at £15-20million.

However, it is also thought that West Brom are keen to make a permanent move for Diangana in the summer, and Phillips believes that the winger could be open to such a deal, if the prospect of Premier League football is on the cards.

Could you Diangana at West Brom next season if promotion is won?

Yes

No

Speaking to West Brom News about the future of Diangana, the ex-England international said: “In the Premier League, would I see him playing regularly for West Ham? Probably not.

“I’m sure that if they go up, West Brom would like to secure his services and I’m pretty sure the player would like to stay at West Brom and play for them in the Premier League.

“I’d like to see him in a Baggies shirt next season if they’re in the Premier League.”

You imagine there will be plenty of Baggies fans who share Phillips’ sentiment about wanting to see Diangana back at The Hawthorns next season.

The young attacker has been outstanding this season, and you certainly feel he could make a big contribution to Slaven Bilic’s side in the top-flight, with the chance to do that likely to be more appealing than sitting on the sidelines at West Ham.

Indeed, with that interest from elsewhere in Diangana, you feel West Brom will have to be in the Premier League if they are to bring him back, particularly with West Ham’s reported asking price for the 22-year-old.
