Report: Ex-PL hardman claims West Brom are “feeling the pressure” following disastrous result

|

Former Premier League midfielder Vinnie Jones believes that West Brom are starting to feel the pressure at the top of the Championship table following their disastrous weekend in the league.

Writing in his weekly column for Easy Odds, the Hollywood actor revealed that the Baggies could begin to crumble from the strain of having Leeds United hot on their heels after West Brom shockingly lost to Wigan Athletic on Saturday whilst Marcelo Bielsa’s side claimed a massive 4-0 win against Hull City.

Leeds have been West Brom’s biggest competitors this season for top spot in the Championship table, with the two English sides regularly swapping places with each other over the course of the season, but for Jones, this recent set of results has the ex-Welsh hardman thinking the Albion could be about to cave in due to the pressure.

Are West Brom going to bottle their position in the top-two?

Yes

No

The 55-year-old said: “It was great to see Leeds United get back on track at the weekend. Now they can push on for the Championship title, not just automatic promotion. One of my old teams produced their performance of the season when thumping Hull away and closed to within a point of West Brom at the top of the Championship. The Baggies might be feeling the pressure themselves now.

“Losing at home to Wigan wasn’t in the script for the Albion, but Bielsa’s side have form there themselves. Now it gives the Whites a real chance. West Brom have a healthy goal difference but the Championship is all about points and fortunes change quickly. Leeds look on the up now.”

A point might be all that separates West Brom from Leeds in the Championship table, but this is hardly the first time Slave Bilic’s side have had a close call with the Whites in the standings this season, and this current close shave is something the Baggies have grown accustomed to this year.

The two sides will be duking it out for top spot for the remainder of the season, but as long as West Brom remains in the automatic promotion spots, Bilic and the squad will be relatively unfazed where Leeds finish come to the end of the campaign.
