Report claims West Brom are close to a breakthrough in pursuit of midfielder

|

West Brom are close to re-signing midfielder Filip Krovinovic on loan with an option to buy from Benfica, a report from Sky Sports has claimed.

Krovinovic spent last season on loan with the Baggies, and played an important role in their promotion to the Premier League, scoring three goals in 43 appearances for Slaven Bilic’s side.

Bilic has previously confirmed that bringing Krovinovic back to The Hawthorns is a priority for West Brom this summer, and it now looks as though they could be about to get their man.

According to the latest reports, the Baggies remain in talks with Benfica about a reunion with Krovinovic, and the two parties now look to be closing in on an agreement with regards to the 24-year-old’s future.

As things stand there are two years remaining on Krovinovic’s contract with Benfica, and it has previously been reported that the Portuguese giants want around €10million for the permanent signing of the former Croatian youth international.

What a relief this will be for West Brom if they are able to pull it off.

Krovnovic was a key player for the Baggies in securing their promotion to the Premier League last season, and it certainly seems as though Bilic is confident he can play an important role in keeping them in the top-flight in the coming campaign.

Consequentially, you feel this is a big deal for the club to get done, both because of Krovinovic’s importance to the side on the pitch, and it shows Bilic that he has the backing of those in the boardroom in a transfer window that could be so crucial for the club ahead of their return to the Premier League.
