Christmas presents came a day late for Bolton Wanderers after the Baggies squandered numerous chances to bag all three points at the Reebok. Culprit in chief for Albion was Peter Odemwingie. The Nigerian hitman flunked several opportunities to give West Brom the lead and at the other end some poor defending let Bolton in to score two goals that they did not deserve.
This game was one that Albion controlled from about the 15th minute onwards but it was almost like watching the team the last time they were in the Premier League under Tony Mowbray. They were excellent through midfield and for the most part in defence, however, profligate finishing and lapses in concentration at the back meant they left the Reebok with no points. Odemwingie missed three good opportunities and Tchoyi and Morrison also spurned the chances that fell their way. At the other end there was no such luck for the Baggies as Matty Taylor opened the scoring for the Trotters after some good play from
hong-Yong Lee. It was the classic counter attacking goal from Bolton. Another goal came for the home side in the second half when Tamas allowed Elmander to bully him before shooting past Carson following a block by Scharner.
It ended a disappointing day for Albion but overall they had played well and deserved more from the game and had Odemwingie not been so rusty after his long lay off then perhaps they would have got more.
