A lot is written and talked about formations and this week Tony Mowbray has confirmed that he will be sticking to his guns and continuing to play with a five man midfield.

The Baggies certainly have a super talented midfield with record signing Borja Valero, Slovenian captain Robert Koren,
the ever reliable Jonathan Greening, Scotland international and joint top scorer James Morrison, South Korean star Do-Heon Kim and not forgetting the enigmatic Chris Brunt.

The news is bound to upset a few fans who have been asking for two players to start up front. Their argument being that the Baggies have created opportunities but the lack of forwards in the box has seen them go begging.

Supporters of the 4 5 1 formation consider that the five man midfield helps retain the ball and the fluidity and movement in midfield is the key to creating chances.

Tony Mowbray considers that he would play two up front if had a Kevin Phillips figure who can play in attack and also drop deep to help the midfield out. This being the case it seems strange that Super Kev was allowed to leave.

Everybody seems to have an opinion on formations and you can now vote on your favoured formation (to the right of this article) and comment on the forum.
