Mowbray: ‘Rubbish’

West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Mowbray felt his side didn’t play well despite winning the Midlands Derby at Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-2.

Kevin Phillips handed Albion a timely 25th minute lead, but equalised through Jody Craddock (44) before Seyi Olofinjana (52) put the home side ahead.

However Albion didn’t give up and were soon back level (52) through Phillips before Diomansy Kamara (74) raced clear to win the game for the Baggies.

But, Albion manager Tony Mowbray believed that his wasn’t happy with his teams performance but was at least pleased about the result; ‘I don’t think it was a very good performance.

‘We can be a lot better than that and we will need to be, I would suggest (in the second leg).

‘There were some things we weren’t too happy about but I’m not sitting here all mister grumpy.

‘We have won and it is a very difficult place to come and get a victory.’

Meanwhile Wolverhampton manager Mick McCarthy paid a fitting tribute to Albion keeper Dean Kiely after a tremendous display; ‘He’s a fantastic goalie, a great pro and he has proved what an asset a top keeper is.

‘I shouldn’t be sitting here as a defeated manager.

‘Their finishing when they had the opportunities has been better. We have run all over them for a large part of the game but been punished.’
