Romelu Lukaku is looking to write himself into Albion’s history books by beating Peter Odemwingie’s league haul of 15 goals in a season.

The on loan Chelsea striker is only one strike off equalling the record, but he has four games left to find the crucial goals.

Speaking to wba.co.uk ahead of the Wigan game the 19 year old striker said.

‘I want to score as many goals as possible and I want to break that record. Peter has been encouraging me to do it since the first day I came here.’

Lukaku admits he knew all about Peter from following his time in Belgium and France, and rather ironically said.

‘I knew him and knew who he was, and when he came to England I knew he would do some damage here.’

Cough…Twitter.

However, I really don’t think he expected people to put that spin on his particular choice of word! Especially as he praises Odemwingie for his help and support since joining the club.

Lukaku added.

‘It would be an honour for me and a great moment to beat his record, and he has his part in it as well because he has taught me a lot.’
