Steve Clarke was delighted to see Romelu Lukaku repay the faith he showed in him when taking the decision to leave Shane Long on the bench today.
Speaking to wba.co.uk after the win today, Clarke said of the on loan striker.
‘We got the result, Shane’s been terrific for me. It was difficult to leave him out but I just felt Lukaku had been very patient waiting for his chance.’
Clarke also explained that he thought Long would benefit from coming on in the second half when the defenders were tired and he himself was fresh.
