More bad news for Roberto Di Matteo as Gonzalo Jara is expected to miss the rest of the season having fractured a metatarsal in his right foot during Saturday’s FA Cup fifth-round draw at Reading.

Another in a long line of injuries and suspensions for Albion, yet RDM remains philosophical about Tuesday’s trip to Cardiff: ‘That’s how it is… we will try to do our best’ he told the official site.

It looks like we will be without several regular squad players for the game, but the boss sees it as a chance for some of the younger players to come to the fore.

It’s likely as well that the injuries will force him to play some players out of position. He paid tribute to Simon Cox who has been covering a midfield role in recent weeks saying that he has been ‘excellent’ in that position.

At least we can all welcome the return of previously cup-tied Frank Nouble on Tuesday.

Definitely out are:

Meite – had to come off at the Madejski Stadium with a badly-bruised ankle

Mulumbu, Thomas – both suspended

Cech – hamstring

Ishmael Miller – ankle

James Morrison – heel

Jara – fractured foot

Slory – waiting to be assessed after Achilles injury during warm up at Reading
