Harsh Loss To City

Steve Clarke has said it was harsh to lose against Man City today given our performance, but he thinks we lost it whilst trying to chase the winner.

Speaking to wba.co.uk after the 2-1 reverse, Clarke was very pleased with our efforts on the day which just compounds the disappointment of not taking anything from the game.

‘I thought we deserved something out of it, I thought we played well and stood up to the Champions. We played the way we play, the only feeling I have right now is of disappointment to lose the game so late. It may be a bad decision to go chasing the winner instead of settling for a point.’

Clarke also adds controversially.

‘I thought the freekick (equiliser) was soft and I thought they got a number of soft free kicks. Unfortunately for us they got a soft equiliser. From there we wanted to win the game. When you get a corner in injury time you think you can win it.’

Despite it costing us today, Clarke says he would do the same in the future but possibly with an extra player sitting.

‘Once bitten, twice shy! I’d probably have one extra playing sitting, but I’d still chase the winner and would do it with a bit more care and attention.’
