Zoltan Gera has said he is hopeful of returning to training in the next fortnight, which should mean he is in contention for the team come the start of the season proper.

Speaking to the Daily Mail as Gera steps up his rehabilitation following his cruciate knee ligament injury, he said he was hopeful he could return to proper training within the next two weeks and then figure prominently in Steve Clarke’s plans come the start of the season.

‘Hopefully I’ll be ready for the first game of the season against Liverpool. I look forward to starting the season and in a couple of weeks I should be able to train fully with the team.’

After rejoining Albion Gera certainly hasn’t had the best of times, so it’ll be nice to get him fit and sharp for the coming season and get to see him on the pitch regularly again.
