Ben Foster has admitted he was gutted to develop a groin injury ahead of the Arsenal game as it meant he couldn’t complete two full successive Prem seasons.

Speaking to wba.co.uk after the game, Foster – who’s future is still to be decided – said.

‘My groin was super tight after the Bolton game. I didn’t train all week just in the hope it would kind of settle down, I did a bit on Saturday and straight away ‘no chance’ to be honest with you. I was gutted not only to miss the last game, but it’s the first one I’ve missed in two years, which is a killer.’

With Foster missing, Fulop stepped into the breach and to be fair, had a bit of a mare, but Ben rallied round his number 2 and added.

‘It’s totally out of character for Marton. I get to see him day in and day out in training and he is a fantastic keeper. I’m gutted for him, but he’ll bounce back.’
