Following Romelu Lukaku’s brace in today’s win against Sunderland, the boss rightly gave him some additional praise.

Speaking to wba.co.uk following the game, Clarke first talked about the match winner, saying.

‘Rom’s in a really rich vein of form. I think it helped him today that we went two up top, which is not our normal formation. He and Shane have shown before they can be a decent partnership and they certainly give the opposition defenders a hard time.’

The controversial element that may take the headlines instead of Rom’s brace, was the return to the team of Peter Odemwingie, and Clarke addressed that by commenting.

‘I know with almost his first touch he had a great run and a shot that went just wide, and he got good applause for that. He’s a talented player and we’re going to use him between now and the end of the season. It seems to have been a long time ago and we have to move on from it.’
