Bednar Likely To Leave

Roy Hodgson has said that Roman Bednar’s Albion future could be decided by the player himself.

Speaking to wba.co.uk the boss admitted that he didn’t like taking the No 9 shirt from Bednar when Long arrived, but he is further down the pecking list and he is obviously going to favour players he has chosen, over those who have returned from a loan spell – irrespective of their history with the club.

‘It’s unfortunate when you have to take a number from a player who has been at the club a while, it was obviously more important for me to give the number to the player I’d chosen and brought here rather than keep the number with the player who has returned to the club, who may or may not stay here.’

Speaking more specifically on Bednar’s future, it sounds like it’s in Roman’s hands.

‘Whether Roman stays or not, I don’t know. That will depend on a lot of factors, not least of all his assessment of how many games he’s going to get here.’

With Long, Odemwingie, Cox and a resurgent Tchoyi you would imagine those opportunities are going to be limited.
