Albion today confirmed that they had turned down an offer of £1.4 million for left-back Paul Robinson from his former club Watford.

Premiership newcomers Watford are looking to strengthen for the season ahead and see former defender Robinson as an ideal signing.

Watford boss Ade Boothroyd rates Robbo and is looking at a deal to take the former defender back to Vicarage Road.

Robinson has been a key player for the Baggies since his arrival from Watford three years ago.

The full-back has become a firm fans favourite at The Hawthorns thanks to his all action displays and attitude. Robinson gives 110% everytime he pulls on a Baggies shirt and Bryan Robson does not want to lose a player like Robbo.

Robson said, ‘He’s a big part of the team and a player I need to keep in the squad next season if we’re going to challenge for promotion.’

There is no doubting what Robson thinks of the defender, last season Robson was touting his player for the England left-back slot, Robson rates Robinson highly and would fight for him to stay.

Robinson’s head may be turned by his former club showing interest but the manager has spoken out about how important a player he is and hopefully he will stay.

It is not known whether Robinson would want a move back to Watford but the opportunity to ply his trade in the top league again may be to tempting for the defender.

Albion do not have to sell and it will take a bigger offer than the £1.4 million offered by Watford to even tempt chairman Jeremy Peace into selling.

I hope that Robbo stays, like Robson said he is an important player for us and the fans would hate to see the back of him. Robbo plays with his heart on his sleeve and it would be sad to see him go.
