The Albion have been rewarded with a home tie in the FA Cup third round, to take place on the weekend of January 3rd or 4th.

The opposition will be either League One side Peterborough United – a team familiar to the Baggies, with Mowbrays men having played them twice in the cups last season, victorious on both occasions. Alternatively it will be fellow League One side Tranmere Rovers, managed by Ronnie Moore. Tranmere apparently means ‘Sandbank with Cranebirds’ if you believe eveything yo read on Wikipedia.

The Albion can reasonably expect to beat both of these teams, and hopefully at least emulate last seasons cup success, where we got all the way to the semi’s at Wembley before Milan Baros punched the ball into the goal. Maradona he certainly wasn’t.

Tranmere and Peterborough will replay their tie a week today at Prenton Park to decide for certain who our opposition will be, having drawn 0-0 at London Road on Saturday.
