Baggies Bounce Back

West Brom ended a run of five games without a win by thrashing Burnley 3-0 at the Hawthorns and Jason Koumas was on target again.

In midweek Koumas showed what he could do at international level when he grabbed a brace for Wales and he was soon at it again in this game when he opened the scoring on five minutes.

Koumas got on the end of a Nathan Ellington pass and curled the ball home inside the far post giving Clarets keeper Brian Jensen no chance.

Before the game Burnley had one of the tightest defences in the league but they were opened up for a second time on seven minutes when the Baggies got their second.

Kamara did well beating players but the ball fell nicely for Ellington who fired in a low shot from a good 25 yards.

At the other end Russell Hoult had to be alert to save a free kick from James O`Connor and the Baggies retaliated with Kamara putting a shot just wide of the post.

The visitors continued to try and get back in the game but Chris McCann and Mike Duff both wasted chances.

Albion countered and Kevin Phillips saw an effort deflected wide.

But any hopes the visitors held of getting back into the game were ended by Darren Carter on the stroke of half time when Ellington went clear of the defence and presented the player with a tap in for 3-0.

McCann had another chance for the Clarets at the start of the second half but wasted it while Jason Koumas tested Jensen with a shot that the keeper saved without too much problem.

The tempo of the game became slower and chances were becoming few and far between, the Baggies seemed happy with the lead that had acquired and Burnley didn`t look like they had the belief to fight back.

Frank Sinclair picked up a red card for a second bookable offence with ten minutes of the game remaining when he pulled down Koumas and that was as they say, it, for the visitors.
