Head coach Tony Pulis has again not exactly mixed his words when it comes to the fact that he believes the transfer deadline should end before a ball is kicked.

In today’s early kick off against Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur target Saido Berahino was left out of the match day squad completely and whilst Pulis wasn’t impressed at being asked why in his post game press interviews, he did give an answer.

The Birmingham Mail have him quoted as saying that he had been left out because Spurs rejected £15million bid has been disruptive to his plans for the game, so he felt the best choice was to protect the youngster in this match.

‘Why are we talking about Saido today? We’re talking about Saido because of the transfer window. The transfer window is absolutely ridiculous. For it to be going through at the start of the season I find just ridiculous. Everybody should be talking about the game and this wouldn’t be an issue or a problem.’

Pulis went on to say that people only need to look around football at the moment and see players being left out because of disruptive bids coming in for them, but there’s certainly no problem between him and the player.

‘Saido’s a great lad and it happens where it can be disruptive and it has been disruptive. I had a good chat with him yesterday. He’s fine, but it’s the transfer window that causes the problem.’

It’s not the first time Pulis has railed against the current system and of course he’s not the only manager that does as it’s set to be an interested week and a bit now until the window closes in September and with Spurs finally firming up a bid it’s very unlikely to be the last is it.
