Albion Rubbish Walcott Link

Albion defender Curtis Davies is not expected to be at The Hawthorns at the start of the season with North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal fighting to take the defender back to the Premiership.

The Baggies have already turned down two offers from Tottenham, the first offer of £3.5 million was flatly refused by Baggies chairman Jeremy Peace and the second offer of £5.5 million was met with the same response.

Peace has told people on the board that the only condition he will ever consider selling Davies is if the club receive an offer of £10 million. Baggies boss Bryan Robson said that none of his first-team squad were for sale but every player has their price.

Arsenal are believed to be Davies` preferred destination. Arsenal will be playing Champions League football and moving to a new state-of-the-art stadium in the up-coming season and this has turned the young defenders head.

Arsenal were rumoured to be ready to offer £8 million for the young defender but Albion want £10 million, this is where the story emerged that Arsenal were prepared to offer £8 million plus Theo Walcott on loan until January as part of the deal.

The story seemed to emanate on an unofficial WBA website but gathered pace in today`s press when the Daily Mirror carried the story under the title ‘World Cup to West Brom`.

Albion have confirmed later this evening that at no time have Albion spoken to Arsenal concerning a move for Walcott, nor have Arsenal been in contact with Albion concerning Davies or any other player.

One thing is sure, Albion will be tested in their resolve to keep Davies and Arsenal are still favourites to come in with an offer for the promising young defender. I am hopeful that Albion hold onto Davies, he is a fantastic defender and important to the first-team but as we know if an offer of £10 million gets placed on Mr Peace`s desk he will accept it, he would be stupid not to.

Davies is an important member of the squad but £10 million would go a long way to strengthening a number of positions including replacing Davies.

Theo Walcott’s agent has also spoken out to deny that his client is set to leave Arsenal on loan. He said that this season is an important season for Theo and he will be hoping to make an impact on the Arsenal first team.
