West Bromwich Albion have been asked to play in our all red third strip for the Chelsea match.

The Professional Game Match Officials (PGMO) – yet more acronyms running the game! – have asked us to use the third strip for the game to save any clashes.

Speaking to wba.co.uk chief executive Mark Jenkins admitted his surprise at the request although Albion will obviously be honouring it.

‘We’re a little bit surprised we have been asked to wear the red kit this early in the season, especially as we’re worn blue and white stripes at Chelsea in the Premier League before. But we respect the PGMO’s decision and will kit out the team accordingly.’

It could be a good omen, we have had a red strip for the last two years and have only lost once whilst wearing it.

A limited number of red third kits will be stocked by the club shop from October, for those who take a fancy to it.
