ALBION are out of this year`s FA Youth Cup after slipping to a 3-1 defeat at Preston North End last night.

The young Baggies went behind in the third-round tie to a first-half penalty scored by Matt Mainwaring.

Substitute Romiane Sawyer put Albion back on level terms 15 minutes into the second half but Preston captain Nathan Fairhurst soon had the home side back in front with a 25-yarder before Arran McCarthy`s deflected shot put the tie beyond doubt.

Albion made a brave fight of it in the last 20 minutes but lady luck was not on their side.

The visitors paid the price for missing chances in the first half when they could have stamped their authority on the game.

Chances continued to come and go after the break but it proved not to be Albion`s night.

West Bromwich Albion U18s: Allsopp, Mason, Hancox (Hurst 46), Labadie, Pike, Holmes, Knight (Alliyu 70), Bruce (Sawyers 46), Morrison, Nicholls, Worrall. Subs not used: Lloyd-Weston, Saied.
