Saturday turned out to be an incredibly busy day in the life of West Bromwich Albion fans. A disappointing point was taken from our Hawthorns based Championship clash with Ipswich Town and later in the evening the club confirmed that legend Darren Moore had been sacked as Guochuan Lai panics about the loss of the Premier League money.

Focusing solely on the on pitch matters from the day, we did lose further ground on the battle for the top with two points dropped, and we should’ve been looking for more after Stefan Johansen gave us a fourth minute lead but we couldn’t add to our advantage and Ipswich hit back to level the scores up.

Statistics website Whoscored had our Man of the Match battle down as a close run thing, with Tosin Adarabioyo taking a rating of 7.50, yet goalkeeper Sam Johnstone only narrowly missed out picking up 7.49 for his efforts.

The top five best performers on the day in their system were completed by goalscorer Johansen (7.36), Craig Dawson (6.97) and Kyle Bartley (6.92).

We’ll see how the players react to the Moore sacking.
