West Brom’s QPR Interest – A Luton Youngster – Two New Sides Watching Centre-Half

|

West Bromwich Albion have been linked with a move for Queens Park Rangers attacker Luke Freeman.

The Sunday Mirror’s print edition carried the speculation and they suggest that we’re looking at the Loftus Road wide boy as head coach Darren Moore turns his attentions to the top end of the pitch ahead of the coming Championship campaign of 2018/19.

How much of this speculation leans on the possible departure of Salomon Rondon remains to be seen as Newcastle United rumours certainly aren’t going away. The 26-year-old has scored seven times for QPR in 57 starting appearances but did create a number of assists across the year.

Luton Today quote Luton manager Nathan Jones as admitting they have an enquiry in for 22-year-old defender Jack Stacey after he missed back to back friendly matches. Whilst he didn’t confirm we were the club in for the player, you wouldn’t expect him to, is does further build that small piece of speculation doing the rounds.

Luton won promotion last year from League Two and Stacey was a standout for them playing 45 times and being named in the EFL Team of the Year for that division.

Referenced in the Stacey speculation is that he’d come in as cover for Allan Nyom with Craig Dawson’s own future in doubt. The Leicester Mercury have the King Power Stadium outfit as expressing an interest in the 28-year-old but there report seems to lean on a Mirror claim that he was training separately from the first team group under instruction from Darren Moore.

That is disputed elsewhere.

Along with Leicester as a possible new destination, Celtic are also being linked with an interest in the player as well now – but it is said that this is only a passing interest at this stage and they are simply ‘monitoring’ things.

Finally, the Daily Mail credit us with an interest in Manchester City youngster Lukas Nmecha.

This report is as an addition to help pad a piece on Salomon Rondon and Dwight Gayle talk with Newcastle United. There’s little in it other than a claim we have joined Swansea City and Blackburn Rovers in expressing an interest in taking him – presumably – on loan. They don’t state whether our interest in the 19-year-old striker is a loan or on a permanent basis.

Those appear to be the more sensible rumours on the mill today.
